New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday searched for a response from the center of the intake of only 19 female candidates at the National Defense Academy (NDA) and other military-managed schools and colleges for 2022.
Judge Judge Sanjay Kulul and MM Sundresh issued a notification to the center after being told that 19 female candidates will be accepted in NDA from a total of 370 seats.

It asked the central government to put the numbers about the records of the total number of candidates including women who had emerged in the examination of NDA 2021, for the entrance test for Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) and for Rashtriya Military School (RMS).
The advice that appeared for the Petitioner Kush Kalra told the bench that even for 2021 examination, female candidate intake was limited to 19 for the Army, Navy and Airforce.
Although the center has been carried out before the upper court to place infrastructure requirements for women’s candidates in May 2022, he has limited the number of intake to the 19 candidates for this year, the APEX court was told.
Bench said, “That figure was the same as the 2021 test.
Last year, you said that it was because of the infrastructure problem that women’s intake would be less.
Now, again for 2022, you have proposed to take the same number of female candidates.
Why did you fix this number ? You must explain this.

The central government told the bench that the intake of female candidates in NDA depends on strength requirements and agreed to submit a written statement within three weeks that explain their attitude.
The top of the court gave three weeks to the center to submit Affidavit and asked the parties to file their enthusiasts in two weeks after that and registered this problem to hear further on March 6.
Last year, the APEX court had directed that prospective women were allowed to appear in the NDA entrance examination.
