Letter: With as many as 74 medical staff and 27 doctors in the new Civil Hospital (NCH) test for Covid-19, the authorities there have asked 3,500 additional staff from the government to deal with the increasing number of patients in all three dedicated covid buildings on campus NCH.
At present, the stem cell hospital building has been declared a Covid hospital and has 73 patients in a room on Saturday.
With 1,500 beds, NCH is the largest covid facility in South Gujarat which recognizes patients not only from the area but also from Saurashtra, Maharashtra and Central Gujarat.
The NCH authorities have asked for a total of 3,500 personnel including 450 doctors, 800 nurses and 2,250 supporting staff.
At present, the government hospital has 450 doctors where 100 is part of the core team dealing with patient support, while doctors are placed in tasks.
