Nagpur: The opening of the new development plan (DP) The road from Morris College T-Point to the Institute of Science has added to the chaos at Wardha Road, especially on stretching from zero square miles.
Traffic police deployed at Zero Mile Square and Variety Square admitted that the long queue of vehicles was being witnessed at both intersections.
On Friday, TOI visited Morris College T-Point and found that the time of the traffic signal in this square had increased by 10 seconds from 96 seconds.
This has led to an increase in waiting for vehicles from three-way – Samvidhan Chowk, Loha Pul and Variety Square.
The long queue of vehicles was seen in the patch between zero square miles and Morris College T-Point.
Already, the traffic police decision to close Meetha Neem Durgah Road has increased congestion in fillings between Zero Mile and Samvidhan Square.
This new road has added to the misery is a rider’s general reaction.
Although very few motorists were found using new roads, still riders using patches between Zero Mile and Variety Square did not stop their vehicles even after signals to green for vehicles coming from the Institute of Science Side.
“Even though red signals for motorists from both sides of Wardha Road at Morris College Square, I have to wait my turn to cross the intersection for at least 15 minutes,” Rohit Meshram claims, motorcycle rider.
The driver shows that at least for the early days, the traffic police must be deployed at this intersection to the human movement of vehicles.
“Unless they are deployed, nothing will change here,” shows the meshram.
Toi also observed that the 600-odd meter road only had a divider built outside the Freedom Park metro station where the 18 meter wide patch was getting narrower.
As a result, the driver comes from the Institute of Science waiting on the right side of the extreme road.
It blocked the movement of free vehicles that came from three roads to this new DP road.
According to traffic experts, if vehicle traffic at this intersection is well managed, congestion between various square and squared Maharajbagh will decrease drastically.
DCP (Traffic) Sarang Awad said the department was conducting a study of vehicle traffic that crossed this square.
“If necessary, suggestions will be given to the NMC traffic department,” he said.
A stretch of concerns * Signal circles increased by 10 seconds * Vehicle long queues * Non Compliance Red Light causes chaos * Riders request traffic police placement * Small dividers near the Metro Freedom Park station adds confusion
