Vasco: More than four years after destroying a fire building and an old emergency station in Vasco, the foundation stone for a new place Rs 14 Crore was placed on Wednesday.
“Vasco fire service personnel have struggled without full buildings while providing services to people in the port city.
This building is expected to be ready in 18 months.
The work will be carried out by the Department of Public Works,” Vasco Mla Carlos Almeida said.
Said that the fire service of the Goa State had been given funds under the 15th Finance Commission, Director of the fire and Ashok Menon emergency service said, “After this funds come, equipment at the Vasco fire department will be improved.
It will also include a vehicle with Table Table Tadder which is used to evacuate people during emergencies from high-rise buildings.
“The new building will have land plus three floors.
The ground floor will consist of a control room, parking area and storage room.
The 30,000-liter underground tank will be built along with two additional tanks.
The first floor will accommodate administrative rooms, offices, libraries, etc.
The second floor will have two hostels for men and one for women’s staff.
The third floor will have a hostel for officers, recreation rooms, multipurpose areas, etc.
The old building was around 25 years old and the structure became weak.
In 2014, the authorities had issued orders to empty the building, while in 2017, the structure was destroyed.
Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Tendulkar, Menon, Almeida, State President of BJP Sadanand Shet Tanavade, and others are present.
