New Delhi: Passenger service on the Najafgarh-Dhansa bus extension from the Gray Line of Delhi Metro is scheduled to start from Saturday night, which will take the transit network further further into the Najafgarh interior.
The corridor is scheduled to be inaugurated by the Minister of Compassion for Housing and Urban Affairs of Hardeep Singh Puri and Delhi Minister Arvind Kejriwal Saturday afternoon, the opening is delayed more than a month for approaching road problems.
Passenger services in this section will begin at 5 pm on the same day, the DMRC official said.
Inauguration of parts will be made through video conferencing.
State Minister of Union for Housing and Urban Affairs Kaushal Kishore and Transportation Minister Delhi Kailash Gahlot will also be present, said DMRC.
The bus holder is almost one kilometer (891 m) Najafgarh-Dhansa will take the Metro further into the Najafgarh interior area.
This segment was previously scheduled for inaugurated on August 6, but was postponed, two days before the scheduled date, due to the problem with the road approach to the station.
The sources in the Delhi transportation department previously said the road approach to the Dhansa Bus Metro station was “it was not even accessible to the public” especially being a motorbike, a factor that caused a delay.
On May 20, most of the road along with the path near the location of the construction of the station had surrendered after heavy rain the day before, pushing the minister of city transportation to order an investigation into the incident.
Gahlot has checked the DMRC site the next day at the Dhansa Stand Metro Station and Khaira crossing where the cave happened.
The source, quoting a gahlot said, a cave also occurred in May 2020, and DMRC had submitted a different timeline for job settlement and to restore the road for normal traffic, but “the physical schedule has never been fulfilled”.
The DMRC then said that some of the vital road links that connected Khaira Mor with Gopal Nagar had to be blocked for heavy vehicles because of construction work at the reversal facility outside the station standing Dhansa.
However, after completing the tunneling job in the reversing area, this road is currently being restored and will soon be ready to facilitate easy access to the station from various interior areas outside Najafgarh, he said.
Dwarka-Najafgarh corridor opened in October 2019, which has connected the Urban Village area of Najafgarh to a quick transit network for the first time.
The upcoming Dhansa Bus Station has been decorated with interesting art and photos, which displays a rich inheritance, culture, flora and fauna from the national capital in the suburbs of this city.
In the first for the DMRC network, Metro Delhi has built underground integrated parking facilities at the Dhansa Bus Station which will allow passengers to park their vehicles and move to the Concourse area directly, officials said in July.
“Dhansa bus station metro station in the Dwarka-Najafgarh-Dhanya bus corridor will be the first underground metro station from the Delhi Metro network to have the entire underground floor dedicated to vehicle parking,” DMRC said.
