Beijing: Chinese President Movement Xi Jinping promotes Xu Quiling to the rank general to head the West Theater Command PLA overseeing the Indian border to make a third commander to lead the power after the deadlock along the actual control line (LAC) in East Ladakh.
In May last year.
The observer said that the promotion of Gen Xu has also sparked speculation of the fate of its predecessor General Zhang Xudong.
XI, who is also the Chairperson of the Central Military Commission (CMC) – High Command of the People’s Army as a whole, promoted XU 59-year-old to the high rank – the highest rank for officers in active services in China, State of Xinhua News Agency reported on Monday.
The officers promoted were the commander of PLA Southern Theater Command Wang Xiubin, Commander of PLA Western Theater Command Xu Quaba, Commander of PLA Army Liu Zhenli and Strategic Support Commander PLA Ju Qiansheng.
While announcing XU’s promotion to the rank of General, Xinhua in his report called Xu as the West Theater Command commander PLA showed that he replaced General Zhang.
Xu was appointed to support the West Theater land forces on June 5 last year.
Xu was the third general to head the Western Command after East Ladakh’s tension began in May last year.
General Zhang was appointed on December 19 last year to lead orders in the midst of Ladakh’s deadlock with India replacing General Zhao Zongqi, 65, who retired.
Zhao’s gene led the West Theater Command during the 2017 Standoof Doklam where the Indian Army opposed PLA’s plan to put the road close to the Indian border in the area claimed by Bhutan.
Ladakh’s deadlock also happened under Zhao’s gene watch.
Regarded as a rising star in PLA, Xu was one of the young generals promoted by XI after he took PLA shoots at the end of 2012.
India and China were locked in a military deadlock at several friction points in East Ladakh since early May last year.
However, both parties completed the withdrawal of troops and weapons from the North and South Bank of Lake Pangong in February after a series of military and diplomatic talks.
Both parties are now involved in the conversation to extend the release process to the remaining friction point.
India has been very urgent to release troops in hot water sources, gorry and depsang.
According to military officials, each party currently has around 50,000 to 60,000 soldiers along the LAC in a sensitive high altitude sector.
There was no advanced movement seen in the release of troops at the remaining friction point because the Chinese did not show flexibility in their approach to this issue in the 11th round of military talks.
