Nagpur: The new road built by Mahametro connects the Ajni train station and the train bridge (Rob) to Wardha Road in Rahate Colony has developed a lot, a big hole.
Also, the surface layer has increased largely, within two years of its construction.
Now, Mahametro, and Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) pass through each other when it comes to repairing the road, placing hundreds of life at risk.
On Tuesday, people could see both sides of the stretch of 1 km damaged mostly.
Hole, especially on the turn, posing a serious threat to motorbike riders.
The surface layer has been increased in all stretches.
Increasing the misery of people, the gravel coming out of the surface layer has accumulated on the road itself, increasing the chance of a two-wheeled one.
Mahametro has completed all the work on the road in August 2019.
A spokesman from Mahametro told TII, “The road has been submitted to NMC in August 2020 after completing the defect accountability period (DLP) from a private contractor.
DLP one year.” He added now NMC responsible for repairing the road.
Although the General Schedule of Mahametro’s Rates (CSR) is higher than the State Public Works Department or NMC, DLP has been maintained very low.
PWD State, NMC and Nit have been in January 2019 applying a five-year DLP for new roads.
Because DLP is low, public money will be in vain if Mahametro or NMC repair the road.
NMC officials said the Civic body never took over the road from Mahametro.
“We conducted this road survey and others fell under a different body.
We have sent letters to all agents asking them to make improvements as soon as possible.
Therefore, Mahametro must repair the road,” they said.
NGO President Jawan Jawan Jai Kisan Pawar said, “Strict action must be taken against Mahametro officials to keep DLP one year and for lower working quality on the road.
All works by Mahametro are of poor quality and we have proven it with videos, images etc.
in the past Then.
Therefore, the audit of all works must be carried out with Roping to third party government institutions.
“Pawar said all expenses to repair the road must be restored from Mahametro officials.
The road was in controversy for a long time because it caused traffic congestion at Wardha Road and a nearby intersection of Ajni Rob.
