The newly found mushrooms also caused mukormycosis, but was not found in Covid patients so far

Bhubaneswar: The newly found mushrooms of Cunninghamella Arunalokei by researchers AIIMS BHubaneswar from an Odisha patient, also causes mukormycosis.
However, mushrooms have not been found in covid-mucormycosis patients so far.
The study article on fungi was published in the Journal of Fungi on Thursday.
Vinaykumar Hallur, Associate Professor Department of Microbiology, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and the main researcher of this finding said Mucoral, complex fungal groups, caused infectious diseases such as muanorkosis.
“The new species found we are members of this group,” he added.
Safe! You have managed to throw your votelogin to see the resule say the Musormycosis is in the nineteenth century too, but is now being discussed throughout the world after many covid patients were diagnosed with this fungal infection.
“Until now we don’t have other musormycosis cases because of new mushroom species,” he added.
Halur said a 26-year-old patient from Odisha came to their Institute in 2018 before Covid time.
He has a mukormycosis.
“Colleague C Preetam, the middle center professor, has sent samples to me for further analysis.
When mushrooms grow in the laboratory, it looks slightly different from ordinary mushrooms that cause mukormycosis,” he added.
Researchers say patients do not have risk factors for mukormycosis and are healthy people.
“Usually, this fungal infection occurs in people who suffer from diabetes, take steroids and suffer from covid.
Even the fungus looks different from other mushrooms under a microscope too.
I think this is something new,” Haldag said.
Microbiology said they contacted fungal infections at the Institute of Education and Postgraduate Medical Research (Pirimer), Chandigarh with the help of his Department’s Head Baijayantimala Mishra and AIims Bhubaneswar Director Gitanjali Batmanabane to confirm the findings.
“Pgimer has analyzed our sample.
Both of us have started working on this,” he added.
The two Institutes conducted DNA analysis, phylogenetic analysis and intact genomic sequencing.
“Finally, we found that it was a new species of Cunninghamella.
We named mushrooms after my teacher Arunaloke Chakrabarti, Head of the Ministry of Medical Microbiology, Pirimer, Chandigarh.
Without guidance and teaching, we cannot achieve this achievement.
So, it is the teacher of Dakshina from the side I approached Teacher’s day, “Haldag said.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar has been designated as a reference center for fungal infections in East India.
The hospital will prepare a sophisticated diagnostic and molecular research center for mushrooms sponsored by ICMR.
“We have a team at our Institute who work on alleged fungal infections.
Anyone who has difficulty identifying fungi or caring for patients with life-threatening fungal infections, we can help them,” he added.
