Lausanne: IOC punishes the Tokyo Korean NO-SHOW game by suspending their National Olympic Committee until the end of 2022, the Chief of the Thomas Bach Olympics announced on Wednesday.
The suspension includes the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics.
“NOC from the People’s Republic of Korea is the only NOC who does not participate in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
The IOC Executive Board decided to suspend NOC until the end of 2022, as a result of this unilateral decision,” said Nock Meeting.
North Korea is the only one of 200 nocs who did not participate in 2020 matches delayed in Japan, and as a result of the Olympic Charter broke out.
Their refusal came after rejecting all IOC proposals for the Coronavirus safety protocol.
Bach said that if a North Korean athlete qualified for Beijing IOC would take “the right decision in time”.
