Patna: Worried by the increase in cases of dengue fever in Patna, district health officials have decided to travel awareness for a week from Monday.
This drive is also intended to keep chikungunya and diseases transmitted through other vectors in the bay.
The number of dengue cases in the district has increased to 98.
Patna’s civil surgeon Dr.
Vibha Kumari Singh said to spread the awareness of dengue fever, chikungunya and diseases transmitted through vectors, six e-rickshaws would regage the road on Monday.
“E-rickshaws will make round all circles of Patna Municipal Corporation.
Detailed plans have been made with the help of the Civic body to contain the spread of viral diseases in vulnerable areas.
Because cases of dengue fever are primarily reported from urban areas, we target urban populations,” he said.
Dr.
Singh added that people will be asked to keep their place and environment dry up by eliminating open sources that collect fresh water and stagnant.
“Water stagnant turns into a breeding place for mosquitoes that spread diseases such as dengue fever, malaria and chikungunya.
During a day of awareness, we will also make people aware of the symptoms of the disease transmitted through vectors.
Most cases of dengue fever have been reported from BankiPore , Patliputra, Digha, Pakachak, Anisabad, Jakkankanpura, and Shahganj.
“A civil surgeon has also directed officials related to the primary health center, sub-division hospitals and referral hospitals to make arrangements for the dengue test kit.
Four dengue fever patients were undergoing treatment at a special 50 beds at Patna Medical College and Hospital on Sunday.
Two patients were received on Saturday.
Dr.
Kaushal Kishore, Head of the Ministry of Medicine at PMCH, said that around 15-20 patients have so far been treated in hospitals.
“The average recovery time of dengue patients is 5-6 days.
Some positively bloody patients do not require hospitalization when they recover at home with medical assistance,” he said.
Three dengue patients, on the other hand, are undergoing treatment at AIIMS-Patna.
Dr.
Ravi Kirti from the Ministry of Medicine Hospital said the post-monsoon was the peak time for dengue fever.
“Most patients come with symptoms such as fever, headaches, body pain and gastronomic problems.
Fortunately, we have not seen patients visiting hospitals with dengue shock syndrome this time.
Most patients have mild to moderate symptoms and they recover in four to Seven days, “he said.
