Dumka: The number of patients, suspected of losing vision after cataract surgery at a private hospital in Sahibanj, has now increased to 19, officials said on Sunday.
Previously, 12 people were reported to be blind in the operation carried out by the same doctor at a private hospital, Jharkhand rented Sada Nursing Home, between October 5 and 7.

Thomas Murmu, district tuberculosis officers and team heads, said, “We will submit an investigation report to the Civil Surgeon, Dr.
Arvind Kumar, in the 24-hour period.” He said the team reached the Barharwa block headquarters on Sunday and began an investigation.
Meanwhile, JMM MLA from Borio, Hibbrom Lobin, said nine victims of failed operations from the village of Chashganwa from the election had approached him on Saturday after their visual losses took part in eye surgery in the hospital.
“I direct hospital management to ensure their care is better to make them restore their vision.
Everything is now being transferred to Kashyap’s eyes based in Ranchi,” Hibbrom said, adding that the number of cases like that might be more.
Previously, the Minister of Rural Development Alamgir Alam said four patients came from their constituents (Pakur).
All victims are operated by the Bengal-based consultant surgeon, Dr.
H K Vishwash.
On Friday, the victims complained about losing vision after the appointment of their bandages.
