The Odisha government asks the industry to install the flow meter at the point of water intake

Bhubaneswar: All industries depend on state governments for water needs must install sensor-based flow meters, water gauges at their intake.
The State Water Resources Department has directed the Office of Engineering – Head (EIC), Planning and Design for Coordination with the State Industry Department, Industrial Promotions and Investment Corporation Odisha Limited (IPICOL) and other institutions to complete the Standard Flow Meter specifications and ensure the right installation Time in all industries.
The decision to install meters in all industries has been taken after the success of two pilot projects – one in IFFCO, Paradeep and others in the Choudwar IMFA unit.
The water flow meter is an instrument used to measure the volume of water that passes through a certain channel (pipe).
With meter installations, state governments can store tabs on actual water use by various industrial vis-à-vis requests.
The department has requested an EIC office to communicate with all industries to install the flow meter at their intake, which penalty failure will be charged by the department.
After installation of flow meters, the industry must calibrate regularly with legal metrology.
On the use of flow meters, the Imma Bijayananda Operation Head Mohapatra said the company always strives to utilize every little technology and it is only a step further to digitize our country to the next level.
“This technology will certainly help in monitoring the use of water in real-time for the industry.
We always welcome and strengthen our support for innovative initiatives taken by the state government,” said Mohapatra.
