The Country Cabinet led by the Head of Minister of Naveen Patnaik approved a proposal under the Urban Sports Infrastructure Development Project.
Speaking in the steps of the government, the Minister of Sports Tusharkanti Behera said these stadiums, to come in urban areas, will be known as Indoor Biju Patnik Stadium.
“There will be facilities to promote sports such as badminton and table tennis.
In addition, people can do yoga and use the gym.
The structure can withstand up to 200 km, so this can be used as a shelter and flood shelter,” said Behera.
“Apart from world-class infrastructure, there will be training facilities for beginner sportsmen.
This will be the beginning of the new chapter in the history of Odisha sports.
This step will improve sports, health and fitness culture throughout the state,” added the minister.
Government sources say two models will be followed when building a stadium.
For small cities or the area of the area that is notified (NACS), the structure will be relatively smaller, to be built with an estimated cost of RS 6.40 Crore each.
For city cities and cities, this will be bigger and costs around Rs 10.15 Crore each.
