The Odisha government stopped the ‘Ashirwad’ scheme

Bhubaneswar: Three months after launching a scheme for children who have lost both or one of their parents because Covid-19, the state government on Monday decided to close the ‘Ashirbad’ scheme from September 15.
On June 20, Minister of Naveen Patnaik’s head has announced the new scheme of ASHIRBAD to help three categories of children who have lost their parents or single parents or one parent (the main bread body) on or after April 1, 2020.
According to the provisions, the state government The section will transfer the monthly amount of Rs 2,500 to the caregiver bank account, which has been responsible for a child after the death of his parents.
Assistance will be released towards maintenance, health and education of children and will continue until the child reaches 18 years or until adoption by someone.
A child, who has lost one of the parents and continues to live with the remaining parents will get Rs 1,500 per month in the account of the left or child who is noticed until he reaches 18 years.
The government will also help children to continue their education and provide facilities under other government schemes and plans.
Aravind Agarwal, Director of the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), in a letter to all state-district collectors said.
“Given the trend of decreasing Covid-19, it was decided that there were children whose parents or fasteners of primary bread or other people died after September 15 will only be borne in the government’s protection scheme for children to need care and protection and not under Ashirbad,” Read the letter.
He said all cases covered by the ASHIRBAD scheme will continue to get benefits as mentioned in the scheme guidelines until they reached the age of 18 or until August 27.
, Shakti’s Mission Department has requested all districts, social welfare officers, to disseminate the provisions of the ASHIRBAD scheme through the Swadaya group (SHG) in different meetings for identification of children in need.
