Kolkata: The traders at Jadubabur Bazaar gathered together on Thursday and arrested a fake KMC officer and handed it to Police Bhowanipore.
The police have identified the defendant as Samaddar’s Swap.
The fake KMC stamp and several Civic Trade License application forms have been confiscated from the defendant.
“The defendant claimed he worked as an agent to get an updated trade license in South Kolkata.
Over time, he began to introduce himself as a KMC food inspector or license department official.
In a certain pocket of South Kolkata, he even claimed that he had the power to cancel the trade license.
He used to ask for money but it was unusual, he continued to ask a small number.
However, when Samaddar began to disturb the traders many times, the traders decided to fight him.
When Samaddar reappeared at Jadubabur Bazar on Thursday, he was asked to show his ID card .
He failed to do it and the locals called the police, “said an investigative officer.
Police said the defendant had demanded a little RS 100 from several traders
