The older you, the more antibodies you have: Learning

Washington: With the appearance of the SARS-COV-2 variant around the world, the spread of pandemics is accelerated.
A research team led by Joelle Pelletier and Jean-Francois Masson, Chemistry Department Universite de Montreal, wanted to know whether natural infection or vaccination caused more antibodies produced.
In their study published in scientific reports, they observed that those who received the Pfizer Bionech or Astrazeneca vaccine had an antibody level which was significantly higher than infected individuals.
This antibody was also effective against the Delta variant, which was not present in Quebec when the sample was collected in 2020.
Masson, a biomedical instrument specialist, and pelletier, protein chemical expert, interested in the group owned: people who have been infected by SARS-COV-2 But it was not hospitalized as a result of infection.
As a result, 32 positive Canadian adults Covid-19 were not treated at the hospital recruited by the De L’Universite Laval Hospital Center 14 to 21 days after being diagnosed through PCR testing.
This was 2020, before the variant of Beta, Delta, and Gamma appeared.
“Everyone who has been infected produces antibodies, but parents produce more than adults under 50 years.
In addition, antibodies are still present in their bloodstream 16 weeks after their diagnosis,” Masson said.
Antibodies produced after infection with the original, the “original” virus strain also reacts to the SARS-COV-2 variant that appears in the next wave, namely Beta (South Africa), Delta (India), but to a lower level: 30 to reduction 50 percent.
“But the results that most surprise we are that antibodies produced by individuals that are infected naturally 50 and older provide greater level of protection than adults under 50,” Pelletier said.
“This is determined by measuring the capacity of antibodies to inhibit the protein interaction of a surge in Delta variant with ACE-2 receptors in human cells, which is how we are infected.
We do not observe the same phenomenon as other variants,” he added.
When someone who has a light covid case is vaccinated, the level of antibodies in their blood multiply compared to people who are not vaccinated that have been infected by the virus.
Their antibodies are also better able to prevent spike-ace-2 interactions.
“But more interesting, is that we have samples from younger individuals than 49 whose infections do not produce antibodies that inhibit the interaction of spike-ace-2, unlike vaccination.
This shows that vaccination increases protection against people who were previously infected.
By genuine tension, “Masson said.
Both scientists believe further research must be done to determine the best combination to maintain the most effective level of antibodies reactive to all viral variants.
