The oldest lake of the city of twin gets a new rental of life

Hubballi: Two oldest lakes in twin cities – Kelageri and College – have been rented a new lives after Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) committed their rejuvenation under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation Schemes and Urban Transformation (Amrut) with estimated RS 4 costs Crore.
Lake Kelalageri, spread across 170 hectares, has a difference has been built by none other than Mr.
M Visvesvaraya.
HDMC initiated work to rejuvenate the lake a few years ago, and the running track was built.
The current work is underway on the development of open gymnasium, and installation of electricity poles.
Blueprint for the Green Zone Amrut Project was prepared in 2019, but working together was stopped because Covid-19.
Mla Aravind Bellad suggested several changes to the project.
The Commissioner HDMC Suresh Itnal confirmed to the Toi who worked on Lake Kelageri almost finished.
“We have created facilities for children and senior citizens.
We have installed an electric pole as part of the beauty of the lake.
There are also plans to plant flowers around the park, and we have deployed security on the lake,” said itnal.
He added that there were plans to develop similar facilities including pedestrian streets and recreational facilities on the collaborry lake in Hosayellapur with the estimated fee of Rs 2.3 Crore.
“Working on the lake is ongoing, and will be completed in two to three months,” said HDMC commissioner.
The Kelagger Resident Raghuveer Siddi said, “The rejuvenated Lake Kelaggeri will soon turn into a ghost for people to spend their time during your spare time.
People must use facilities on the lake responsibly.”
