Bengaluru: While Kaseload Covid-19 City declined, infections on the edges, especially in the apartment complex, still on the higher side.
In the last 10 days, the environment such as Begur (96 cases), Horamavu (83), Varthur (72), Bellandur (67) and Hoodi (63) have taken into account most cases in Bengaluru.
Civil officials link these cases with floating populations and use of public areas in the apartment complex.
On the contrary, some areas in Bengaluru’s core only report a handful of Covid-19 cases.
A BBMP official said that after excessive locking, many migrant workers returned to the city, but only a small portion was tested.
They live in small tents and other emergency structures, where social distance is practically impossible.
Also, some areas are bound to see more cases because all sectors have been opened.
“The main reason that the edge ward reports more cases is an increase in economic and social activities.
There is a large floating population in Mahadevapura and it might contribute to the increase in cases in these areas,” said the Special Commissioner of the BBMP (Health) Randeep D to Toi.
“These areas witnessed most of the construction work.
Migrant workers have returned to the site and hardly followed the Covid protocol.” He added that opening a general area on a high increase also contributed to cases.
Other BBMP officials said Covid-19 safety rules were not fully followed in the ward on the outskirts.
“There has been a weakness in upholding the rules after unlocking,” the official said.
But areas such as Swamy Dharmaraya Temple, Bapuji Nagar and Azad Nagar, who were formerly the detention zone, had not reported a positive case in the past few days.
Padarayanapura has reported only one case in the last 10 days.
Randeep said that testing was being carried out as a regular team and health also saw whether the serosurvey had to be done in certain areas to ensure the level of antibodies in the local population.
“We also analyzed the impact of vaccination: whether it caused a decrease in cases in the city,” he said.
In the last 24 hours, Bengaluru has reported 354 Covid-19 cases and five deaths.
The number of active cases reaches 8,047.
More than 100 wards report less than 10 new infections and remain front levels of 0.7 percent.
An official in the Ministry of Health believes that the actual level of participants may be more than 3 percent because currently testing is done only for people with symptoms.
