The owner raises alarms about the dangers posed by trucks that are overloaded

Mangaluru: Following truck accidents that are overloaded in Donigal in Hassan District, the Association of Truck owners Dakshina Kannada has raised concerns over the movement of trucks that are overloaded, and damage caused by road due to public hazards.
“On Friday, the vehicle brought three steel rolls, which moved from Mangaluru to Hassan, met with an accident.
While one steel coil fell on the road, the other two fell to the steep valley.
The truck brought almost 30 tons of overload,” said Sunil D’Souza, President, Association of Dakshina Kannada truck owners.
He urged the state government to take action against trucks that were overloaded, especially those who moved between Mangaluru and Hassan at the NH-75.
“While we repeatedly tried to attract the attention of the government and the authorities, to keep the tab on the movement of trucks overloaded, it was studied that the truck that met the accident brought a load of 68 tons, as opposed to the recorded capacity of 36 tons.
Tonnage passing for this truck Norma RTO, only 35 tons.
Fortunately, there were no vehicles passing at the time of the accident, if not, there would be a big collision, which would cause loss of life.
There was a traffic jam for several hours, after the locals did not allow the truck owner to take the coil.
Have Come to our notification that the truck has been overloaded with rolls from the port of Mangalore to Tumakuru, which go through Mangaluru, Bantwal, Puture, Sakleshpur, and Hassan, “he said.
Sunil claimed that this problem was brought to the authorities notice in Hassan and Dakshina Kannada, and other state government authorities.
“Last year, President Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Committee and Agent Association, GR Shanmugappa, had visited Mangaluru, after the administration had issued directions to stop the truck movements that were overloaded from Mangaluru.
Even so, there was no tight action taken on this problem, “He said, accusing transporting a big bribe to clean their way.
The overload will also produce fewer truck movements, because the owner will face the financial crisis, he added.
