Ranchi: The state government on Tuesday issued a notification that expanded the working period of the Work Committee of the Pancrayat Raj System which was three levels until the next election occurred.
This is a second extension like that.
The move was taken when Pancrayat polls could not occur due to Covid-19 pandemic.
The first extension was ordered in January this year and for the second extension, the government announced regulations as rules did not allow further extension.
Notifications issued by the Department of Raj Panchayat, “the selection of Pancrayat Raj Institutions occurred in 2015.
However, selected bodies were dissolved after the end of their five-year term (in 2020).
When elections cannot occur, the government has formed a work committee during Six months on January 7, 2021, to ensure the function of the institution of Raj Panchayat.
After the expiration of their term of office, the Work Committee has been formed again.
This will be effective until the election for the local body occurs.
“As part of the counseling process, all 24 regency deputy commissioners have been Empowered to reshape the institution while the Department of Panchayat Raj will issue instructions on eliminating congestion related to the formation, work and process of work committees.
Can be stated here that Mukiyas was elected, Deputy Mukhiyas and members of the Gram Panchayats from the public and scheduled categories, Pramukh, Deputy Pramukh and Panchayat Samitis and Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson and members of Zila Parishads have been maintained in the New Work Committee.
The government states that the Gram Panchayats Work Committee, Panchayat Samitis and Zila Parishads can use all the strengths and functions mentioned for them under the Jharkhand Panchayat Raj 91.
Likewise, the officers of block and deputy commissioners will release their responsibilities as in the past.
Non-government members of the Work Committee will, however, do not get privileges, which they enjoyed before.
