New Delhi: Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, who was involved in 10 of the 11 rounds of talks with farmers, on Friday said the intention behind the legislary of three agricultural laws was to bring “revolutionary change” in the lives of farmers but the government could not do it to explain the benefits to the section farmer.
He, however, strives to maintain the possibility of reform remains alive and mention how the committee formation, as suggested by PM Modi, will come out with suggestions for future reform steps.
“I feel sad because we failed to explain the benefits of agricultural law to some farmers,” Tomar said.
He previously adhered to the position that the government was ready to change the law and there was no point in revoking it.
Tomar said the committee announced by PM to see the MSP problem will include representatives of the central and state governments, farmers and scientists, and their recommendations will, hopefully, benefit farmers.
