Bhubaneswar: Some young closures from all over the world have begun to arrive in the city for the inaugural edition of the International Badminton Tournament – Odisha Open 2022 – to be held at the Indoor Jawaharlal Stadium, Nehru, Cuttack from Monday.
After being greeted by the officials of the State Sports Department, the players were made to undergo a required RT-PCR test, according to the Odisha government protocol and the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
“More than 300 players from 18 countries will participate in tournaments.
The state government has given the top priority to ensure the safety of the players and sports officials and also smooth behavior,” said an official.
The tournament is being organized by the State Sports and Youth Service Department, along with the Indian Badminton Association and the Badminton Association of the State of Odisha.
This will be held without viewers, ensuring strict compliance with Covid guidelines.
The indoor stadium in Jawaharlal, the place of match, has also been changed by the Cuttack district administration and Cuttack Municipal Corporation for the event.
In an effort to promote sports, the state government established a badminton high-performance center at Kalinga Stadium to provide world-class training for beginner selection.
