New Delhi: Delhi police have arrested two people from Rajasthan for allegedly extorting money from people with threatening to post their nude or morph videos and pictures on the social media platform, a senior officer said on Friday.
The Jahul was accused of (25) and MINAJ (23), pretending from the region of the Bharatpur Rajasthan district, has extorted money from more than 250 people to date, said the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Pranav Tayal.
The arrest was made based on a complaint by a man based in Delhi at the police station was deemed in July this year.
According to FIR, the complainant has received a woman’s friendship request on the social media platform.
They exchanged their contact numbers and began chatting on Whatsapp, the officer said.
While chatting in whatsapp, the woman provoked a complainant to commit sexual acts noted by it.
He then began to threaten him and asked him to pay Rs 15,000 to get deleted videos.
When the complainant paid the amount, he got a call from someone else who claimed to be a cyber cell officer from Durgapuri.
The person told him to get obscene videos removed from YouTube and other social media sites.
When a complainant contact Youtuber is known to have posted a video, it also requires the number of complainants to delete videos from the video streaming platform.
“Using recording analysis of detailed calls and technical supervision, the attack was carried out in Melat and the two defendants were arrested from there,” Tayal said.
Three phones used to make extortion calls confiscated from their ownership, he added.
