Hyderabad: The police do not have the power to seize vehicles from drunk drivers and vice versa can allow people who accompany who do not have alcohol to drive a vehicle, said the Telangana High Court.

“If a police officer has concluded that the prosecution of a driver or the owner or both is needed, he will submit a Chargesheet against them before a judge within three days from the date of the vehicle foreclosure,” Justice Lakshman said in his order.
“The vehicle will be released by the officer who holds it back after prosecution is resolved under the intimacy to the regional transportation authority.” Orders direct the judge to receive a chargesheet within three days from the date of the seizure if the chargesheets sequentially.
If no one claims vehicle prisoners, the police can take the necessary steps, the order is read.
“Every violation of this direction will lead to cases of insult to mistaken officers,” the judge warned.
