Coimbatore: Rural police arrested five people from the Samiyar Thottam area in Mettupalayam because they tried to smuggle six tons of ration on Thursday.
The police identified them as Sahul Hameed, Sekar, Kumar Sathish, Manikandan and Lawrence, who worked as a loadment.
Superintendent Police S Selvanagarathinam, who received information about smuggling efforts, has formed a special team led by King Prabhu Sub-Inspector.
