Thane: Navi Mumbai police identified a 70-year-old woman, who was killed and her face was flawed by her attacker, with the help of tattoos on his arm and also arrested the defendant, a 26-year-old trail resident, an official said on Tuesday.
The woman, a Govandi resident in Mumbai, was killed near the Vashi Bridge earlier this month after he opposed the rape offer by the defendant who slit his throat and destroyed his head with stones, he said.
His body was found filled in gunny bags in very decomposed conditions.
The official said it was a difficult task for the police to identify the deceased and the killer.
