The police launched the SPL drive to curb gambling during Deepavali

Hubballi: In an effort to curb gambling during the Deepavali Festival in the twin cities, Hubballi-Dharwad police have launched a special drive against gambling rackets run in prominent places.
The police will take hard action against those who play cards and are involved in gambling.
The police have instructed all hotels and clubs not to give their place to gamble.
Police Commissioner Labhuram said the police had made an announcement in the jurisdiction of all police stations that they would begin firm action on gambling during Diwali.
“The announcement was made to avoid unnecessary arguments when the action began on the actions that violated the law,” he added.
“Police stations have held meetings with clubs and hotels and ask them not to provide room to gamble.
If anyone found doing it, merciless action will begin.
We will definitely save tabs on the Social Club and Tambling Dens during Diwali and will travel against gambling, “he said.
The police team will continue, and they will look for clubs and commercial companies where money is exchanged while playing cards, the police source said.
Afraid of police action, most of these playing card sessions have now shifted to private households, social clubs or farmhouses and resorts on the outskirts of the city.
Whatever game where the property is moving or non-moving traded is considered a gambling and can be punished under gambling.
Whatever games where luck plays a more important role than the skills of the people involved and where the exchange of money takes place to qualify as a gambling action, said the source.
Those who are used to playing cards say nothing is wrong with it.
They claim that playing cards and gambling is officially allowed during Diwali and it is not considered wrong or illegal.
Dr.
Mc Sindhur, a social activist and practice doctor said, “This is a good initiative by the police to create awareness about gambling that violated the law during Deepavali.
Because there is still fear of Covid-19, it is better to avoid social meetings at night hours and limit Gambling will help celebrate Deepavali peacefully.
