Letter: Special Operations Group (SOG) Sleuth restores a bag that contains jewelry worth Rs 1.5 lakh within two hours after being forgotten in automatic rickshaw.
The police traced a pedicab about four kilometers from the pedicab holder.
The incident involved the family of Chhatisgarh who came to the city on Tuesday to participate in the post-death ritual of a relative.
Sunil Agarwal, a resident of Ambigger in Chhattisgarh, lives in a hotel in VIP Road in Vesu along with three family members.
On Tuesday all took an automatic rickshaw from the hotel to reach Shyam Baba’s temple.
The family also brings a bag of jewelry according to traditional rituals that need a member of a woman’s family to give her jewelry if her husband’s death occurs.
Because, they were four passengers in a pedicab, the bag was stored in a narrow room behind the passenger seat.
The family came down from the rickshaw and went to their destination but after a while realizing that they forgot to take their bags.
They returned to the place to hunt rickshaws but could not find it despite searching for more than one hour.
“The police were told at around 1pm.
Examine CCTV recordings and collect other information that we tracked the rickshaw at 3 pm,” said R S Suvera, Police Inspector, SOG.
The police identified rickshaws and registration numbers from CCTV recordings and also recovered their addresses.
Because it was rented accommodation, they found that the rickshaw owner had changed his residence.
The police then traced the pedicab by asking in various garages to the garage from where they could restore whole bags.
“The family has come for a post-funeral ritual and because of the mistake of losing a bag in a pedicab.
The police restored the bag quickly and returned valuables,” said the police commissioner of Ajay Tomar.
