New Delhi: Police and administrative officials on Wednesday stopped dozens of Ghats crowded people along the Yamuna River in Delhi for the Chhath celebration, citing DDMA’s orders forbade the celebration along the river bank in Covid-19 view.
A crowd gathered in Yamuna Ghat near Kalindi Kunj in the morning was dissolved by the police and the district, and the people were again directed at the designated place to observe rituals.
The city government has established 800 emergency ghats in Delhi for the people to do the Chhath Ritual.
The Four Day Festival Chhath Puja is mainly celebrated by ‘purvanchalis’ from Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand settled in Delhi.
During the festival, the worshipers followed the complexity of the sacrificial ritual ‘Arghya’ the sun and also fasted.
A police officer said adequate arrangements have been carried out in a designated place for rituals to manage many people.
Government officials said 100 teams had been deployed at South East Delhi to ensure there was no violation of Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) command.
A senior Delhi police officer said the staff adequate from Kalindi Kunj and other police stations from the district had been deployed at Yamuna Ghat.
“Our staff also explained to visiting people about the national sequence of the tribunal green, and urged them to comply with guidelines and observe rituals in their homes or in colonies.
Many of them are sure and return home,” he said.
Senior district officials also monitor the situation, he said.
“We have also interacted with the organizers of the Puja Chhath and asked them to send people to designated places where all facilities, including lighting, water, sanitation and medical care provided,” he said.
Paramilitary personnel have also been pressured to invite people to obey DDMA’s orders, in addition to supervising the legal and order situation, officials said.
The DDMA has on October 29, the Chhath celebration is allowed in the “designated site”, restrictions on the edge of the Yamuna River, and directed by government officials and police to ensure strict compliance of all Covid-related commands.
The DDMA sequence also shows that every violation of the guidelines will invite prosecution in accordance with the legal provisions, including those of Indian Criminal Code and Disaster Management Law, 2005.

BJP and AAP are involved in the war of words above the festival with each trying to outsmate others and seek a favor from the Purvanchali community.
