Nagpur: City Police have returned a restored property worth RS24.6 Crore to residents in a range of about 11 months between September last year and this year after detecting 3,062 cases of theft, adding or 547 other cases detected by the economic and ciber wing branch to restore property and valuables worth RS2.89 Crore to the September citizen last year and July this year.
In the past, the city police had witnessed several controversies, including suicide, violations, suspension and such episodes at the police station confiscated and restored, known as ‘muddemal’ in police language.
There were several incidents of valuables confiscated and restored to become misplaced, abused and stolen from the police station.
Police Chief Amitesh Kumar said that a meeting was held in October last year for this issue.
“The audit and supervision of all the traits seized and restored throughout the police station were carried out.
Officers were responsible for the properties seized and restored and the senior inspector of the police were told that instead of storing material in the police station they had to submit it to citizens,” word cp.
Top COP said that Zonal DCP was asked to coordinate and monitor the process.
The value of more than RS9.49 Crore, recovered in 645 cases, returned under the supervision of Zonal DCP NeelotPal, followed by property worth more than zonal.

Kumar said that police officers were asked to collect court orders and complete legal formalities in a short time without disturbing the citizens concerned.
“The police station repeatedly traced the owner to restore their valuables,” he said.
Furthermore CP said that two camps were held where more than 100 cellphones were returned.
“Priority is given to restore the restored gold, followed by vehicles and other valuables,” he said.
In another initiative, Kumar said that 2,043 vehicles parked at various police pumps for more than 20 years were also auctioned after no prosecutor.
“We have deposited more than RS1 Crore at the Government Treasury by auctioning this vehicle,” said CP.Police also throws 21,822 violations and cases of unintentional deaths in the last 11 months since September 2020.
