The power crisis in Punjab as a thermal plant develops obstacles

Bathinda / Patiala / Chandigarh: The ongoing power crisis in Punjab is increasingly on Sunday when another unit of Talwandi Sabo Power Limited (TSPL) stops the power plant after the obstacle.
One of the TSPL units has been closed for more than three months.
With two units after stopping the manufacture, only one unit operates now.
TSPL, located in Banawali Village in the Mansa District, each has three 660 MW units, producing 1,980 MW power.
Before the Snag hit unit number 1 in the early hours of Sunday, the power plant produces 1,178 MW Power, 142 MW less than the capacity of 1,320 MW generation of two units.
It may take more than 48 hours to create this operational unit, said the source.
Punjab has staggered under a severe power crisis, with demand exceeding the capacity of the power supply.
Even though the situation dropped to a certain extent in the last 24 hours, stumbling one of the 660 units of MW TSPL worsened the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited problem (PSPCL), a senior official said.
Now, the PSPCL has issued a penalty notification to TSPL because it does not ensure the availability of the unit on time 3.
Director of the Chairperson of the Cum-Managing PSPCL (CMD) A Venu Prasad said Power Discom has repeatedly directed TSPR to ensure the all three units in the rice season, including unit no.
3, but failed to do it.
The situation will not be as bad if the third unit will function.
Meeting Power Demand has become a challenge for PSPCL.
Two days ago, demand for power rose to 14,300 MW while the country’s resources were limited to 12,800 MW, leaving a shortage of 1,500 MW.
PSPCL connects a surge in demand until the end of the season.
Given this, the power supply to the agricultural sector is being restricted and unscheduled electricity models are being enforced in domestic supply.
On Saturday, the supply is restored to a certain extent.
Prasad said the second unit of TSPL is expected to be operational on Monday night or Tuesday morning, “to compensate for losses, the PSPCL has been allowed to carry out more electricity purchases from the national collection by increasing the 7,300 MW limit to 7,800 MW for 7,800 MW for now.
On the day Sunday, PSPCL meets the demand by supplying 12,800 MW.
We hope to satisfy demand in the coming days.
“He said because of unit failure no.
3, PSPCL faces extraordinary difficulties in providing eight hours of power supply without interference for agriculture and domestic consumers of the state.
There is also a sudden failure of the Ropar thermal plant unit and a low power plant rate in the Bhakra Hydro project.
“We have directed TSPL to make convincing efforts to make unit no.
3 is the earliest.
PSPCC has issued a notification to TSPL, asking them to explain why capacity costs should not be deducted for the entire year contract 2021-22, considering the unnasiatical unit below Damage and convicted of the difficulties faced by the Punjab people faced “said Prasad.
