Mumbai: Four people have been arrested for allegedly damaging the Prahar Jansakti Party (PJP) office in Malwani here and attacked party workers, police said on Tuesday.
According to the police, the attack was a result of old competition and was not politically motivated.
The police have arrested Kabir Mulla, Sadik Sheikh, Faisal Qureshi and Afzal Qureshi, and were looking for two more accusations that harmed the office and attacked Irfan Sheikh’s party workers on Monday night, said an official.
Sheikh is to inaugurate the new PJP office in Malwani and Minister Bacchu Kadu will come for the inauguration, the official said.
However, the defendant entered the office before the inauguration, searched the place and attacked Sheikh, he said.
A pine was listed under Section 307 (murder attempt) and other relevant provisions from the IPC, and four defendants were arrested, the official said.
The initial investigation has revealed that the attack was the fall of the old competition and not a political dispute, he said, adding that further investigation was taking place.
