New Delhi: The wholesale and retail price of oil that can be eaten has fallen slightly in the past week, except Mustard oil, because the government cut import duties in oil palm, soybeans and sunflower oil for the second time.
The average retail price of Mustard oil is packaged continues to increase and on Friday, sold at Rs 180 per liter compared to RS 173 a month back.
According to the monitoring cell price of the ministry of consumer affairs, the average retail price of vegetable oil in the past month shows that the price of sunflower oil (packaged) has increased to RS 174 per liter last week from RS 171 a month.
But on Friday, the average price of vegetable oil is Rs 167 per liter.
Likewise, the average price of palm oil has increased to Rs 134 per week, but on Friday eating oil can be sold at Rs 132 per liter.
In terms of soybean oil prices in the retail market, there has been no change in the past week.
Soyabean oils are packaged per liter for sale at Rs 156.
However, defeating trends, the average retail price mustard oil has increased consistently.
The Indian solvent extractor association (SEAI) has urged the government to reduce import duties on radishes in line with soybeans and sunflower oil or even slightly lower because it will have the desired effect on the price of fled mustard oil.
