Pune: The price of CNG in the city has been upgraded once again, leaving vehicle owners, especially the autorickshaw driver, annoyed.
The price of 1kg CNG on Thursday was Rs 63.90 against Rs 62.10 on Wednesday – a rise of Rs 1.80.
The CNG price in Pune has increased for the fourth time in the past four months.
“Earlier this week, decisions were taken to increase the autorickshaw tariff, which was relieved for us.
But with the increase in prices of CNG again, we will not see a lot of savings, because things g back to where they are.
While the price of gasoline and diesel has fallen, CNG price increases will regage our income, “said Sadanand Pattte, a driver of the Autorickshaw.
On November 16, the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) increased the minimum autorickshaws rate in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and Baramati from Rs 18 to RS 21 for the first 1.5 km, and after that, Rs 14 for every kilometer.
There were more than the lakh autorickshaws in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad and 95% of them walked in CNG.
Immediately after the increase in fees, the Autorickshaw union questioned the decision.
“We are not satisfied with the increase and ask for RTA to show us documents based on where they have increased tariffs,” said Srikant Acharya, a senior member of Aam Aadmi Rickshaw Chalak Sanghatana.
