Washington: Masks will be requested in the room in Washington, D.C., for everyone 2 years and the older ones start Saturday, said Mayor Muriel Bowser on Thursday, regardless of whether they have been vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus.
The mandate will place the capital city in line with the updated guidelines that US centers for controlling and prevention of disease were released this week in an effort to contain the rapid spread of the Delta variant of Coronavirus.
Many federal government institutions in Washington and the suburbs have implemented the same mask requirements and President Joe Biden is expected to announce additional steps for federal labor on Thursday.
In addition, the Smithsonian said he would reuse the mask requirements in his museums lining the national mall and other indoor places for visitors 2 years and above on Friday “regardless of vaccination status.” The face cover can be removed while eating or drinking in the appointed area, it is said in a statement on Thursday.
In early July, Washington had reached the lowest level of the spread of the Covid-19 community since the global pandemic began one and a half years ago.
During the month, the daily case level has increased fivefold, at the same time as the upward level of the test, Laquandra Nesbitt, director of the City Health Department, told public direction before Bowser announced a new mandate.
The current estimate shows more than half of the city’s population has been fully vaccinated, according to data on the public health agency.
