Bengaluru: The acceptance process for the Polytechnic Diploma in Karnataka, with eight newly added courts and the C-20 curriculum which was changed from the previous course, was inaugurated here on Thursday.
Inaugurating the process, the Karnataka Minister for higher education, C.
Ashwath Narayan said that these steps were taken by focusing on increasing student work capabilities and to harmonize courses with NSQF (national skills qualification framework) and global standards that are in accordance with current developments and demands.
Eight new diploma programs offered by the Department of Technical Education in developing regions including alternative energy technology, cyber security, food processing & preservation, travel & tourism, Cloud Computing & Big Data, Automation & Robotics, and TV production, and physical systems Cyber & security.

Polytechnic Colleges offering new courses include Gauribidanur, Shiralakoppa, Kudligi, Rabakavi, Banahatti, Aurad, SJ Polytechnic in Bengaluru, Chennagiri, Koppa, Honnali and Kapu (Udupi), said Minister said.
In addition to the newly added program, 33 courses are in the Polytechnic Diploma.
Apart from this, in the third year, the specialization path will be provided in 12 subjects, added Narayan.
The reception process has also been changed.
Now students can get acceptance on the basis of the first cum-cum in 61 universities, from a total of 87 government polytechnics.
Achievement-based acceptance will be carried out at 26 remaining colleges.
“DTE has designed new courses and new C-20 curriculum after extensive consultation with industry, academics, alumni and government.
In addition, signals from Diploma courses in countries such as Germany, New Zealand, Australia and Singapore have also been adapted,” said Minister.
