Erode: District administration has forbidden baths in Downstream Koduidi Dam, which has been filled with flood water after heavy rainfall in the catchment area for the past few days.
The district government has appealed to the people, especially those who live on the banks of the Bhavani River and lowland areas, to move to safer places.
Coracle services in the codiver and surrounding rivers are also completely prohibited up to further orders.
“Tourists have been instructed not to take a shower on the river and under fallen dam,” said a Public Works Department official (PWD), who did not want to be identified.
The ban on the water late was appointed on September 1 after being dropped in April after a sharp surge in the Covid-19 case.
The team consisting of income, PWD and police officials were deployed to monitor the situation.
Police and firefighting and rescue service personnel are also deployed along the banks of the river.
“We have installed a warning board at the entrance of the Codiver Dam who asks people not to enter the dam water path to bathe or fish until further orders.
The police will take action against people who violate the order,” said PWD official.
