Chandigarh: The relief of people living in the villages, the Punjab cabinet on Monday decided to provide free strength for all rustic water supply schemes (RWS) with the effects starting October 1, 2021.
This decision was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by the Minister’s Chief Chararjit Singh Channi in Chandigarh in CMO on Monday morning.
According to a spokesman, the decision will require an annual expenditure of Rs.440 Crore on the State Exfequer.
Likewise, the Cabinet also provides a nod to reduce service costs in all RWS schemes of 70% of Rs.166 to Rs 50 per household per month in villages.
It was also decided at a meeting to provide funds through budget support to resolve outstanding arrears RS 1168 Crore Daya bills from the RWS scheme.
Expanding great assistance to people living in urban areas, the Cabinet also decided to reduce the cost of using water to 50 per month for domestic connections of all categories that have a plot size above 125 sq.

Yards in urban areas have been released from paying the cost of water and sewerage users.
These two concessions will benefit nearly 25 LAC families living in urban areas.
Furthermore, the Cabinet also decided to release all arrears of water supply and sewerage fees for domestic connections.
This decision tends to cost the country’s extequer with almost Rs.700 crore tones.
In another decision, the Cabinet also continued to recruit group-D employees regularly so that they fulfill their old demands delayed to instill a sense of security.
The cabinet also gave approval to send recommendations for the appointment of Jagbans Singh as a new chairman of the Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC).
