The PVP sector in Mumbai has more than 10L covid doses

Mumbai: Private hospitals in the city are believed to have nearly 10 doses of Lakh Vaccine Covid-19, according to estimates with BMC.
While civil authorities have urged this hospital to spend a dose as early as possible, many cannot do it because of a large decrease in demand for paid vaccination – sequential, 41% less doses are given in the private sector in July.
Most of the shares are with a handful of hospitals, said sources.
A glimpse of Cowin showed a few, perhaps with adequate inventory, has opened a slot up to a week before.
Most other people have offered several hundred slots for 1-3 days.
The hospital said anywhere between 60% and 90% slot filled.
Nanavati, Surana, continued Multi specialties in Vile Parle and P D Hinduja are among hospitals that have opened slots a few days earlier.
In MMR, Apollo in Navi Mumbai, Doddu Sheena Shetty in Badlapur and Highway Hospital in Thane had thousands of doses offered.
The head of a private hospital told TII several facilities that had bought large quantities worried because demand had fallen and their shares had a expiration date.
“Possible more hospitals can take the CSR route to use a dose,” he said – they can collaborate with government institutions to achieve a population that is not vaccinated.
Many are also optimistic that demand will show uptick when more eligible for the second dose in August.
The BMC number shows at least 9 lakhs qualify for second jab until July.
BMC, meanwhile, said it remains open to connections to vaccinate parts that cannot afford to pay.
Until now, he has a commitment to more than 6 doses of lakh through the CSR channel.
“People who can pay to get vaccinations have done so.
Therefore, we see a decline in demand for paid vaccination and longer queues in public centers,” said Suresh Kakani, an additional Municipal commissioner.
While doses in private hospitals have several takers, BMC cannot accommodate drives on Wednesday due to shortcomings.
It was continued on Thursday after the corporation received 1.05 lakh doses, but it would barely survive one or two days.
The corporation has the capacity to vaccinate 1-1.5lakh every day; But it has managed to vaccinate one lakh one day only at eight days since January.
Recently, the center indicates that a 25% quota for the private sector can be reviewed due to low utilization.
Minister of Health Mansukh Mandaviya told Rajya Sabha that the government obtained a 7-9% of the shares from the private sector quota because it had not been utilized.
