Coimbatore: More than four decades after the city becomes a corporation, everything will be arranged to get the mayor of her first woman in the upcoming urban local agency election.
While the announcement of the State Election Commission has ended the race to post among male politicians, it has brought cheering on their female colleagues in the city.
The probability of heavyweight men who mark their family members are large.
However, the lobby has begun among female politicians, looking for tickets to compete for the top position in the city.
It will also be the first time for City Corporation to accommodate 50% of women consumption candidates.
Women’s party officials cheerfully started the poll work at that time, but for the selection of disappointment they were not done.
Those who are considered probable candidates in 2016 and people who have risen the ranks in the intervention period hopes to test election fortune in the upcoming election.
In the powerful DMK camp, the name of the Wing Wings of the Meana District of Jayakumar made a round of mayor.
Former member of the female council and several other party officials were also in the race.
In the opposition AIADMK camp, Sharmila, K chandrasekar’s wife, a colleague close to the former Minister of Administration S S P Velumani was mentioned as a possible candidate.
The Aiadmk man said there was another female loyalist from Velumani who could not be ruled out for the post.
BJP is also getting ready with his own candidate, hoping that AIDMK will distribute the chair of the mayor to its allies.
Although the city was made by the company in 1981, the Mayor’s post and the election for it was only introduced in 1996, when V Gopalakrishnan from Congress Tamil Maanila was the first mayor as a DMK ally.
The city only has a male mayor since then – three of AIADMK, each of the Congress and Congress Tamil Maanila.
While the post was open to women in the past, there were no political parties that have reduced female candidates in the city, unlike corporations in Erode, Trichy and Thoothukudi who have a mayor of women.
The city, however, has the Deputy Mayor of Mayor once (2011-16).
