The rain continuously hampered agricultural activities throughout the cave

Margao: The unrelenting rain destroys the country over the past few weeks hampering the applicable Kharif season agriculture.
The source in the Ministry of Agriculture said that the puddle of rice fields has prevented farmers hijack their treaty.
“The transplant engine also cannot be deployed because they are often trapped in mud.
This has resulted in a slowdown in activities,” said a senior agricultural officer.
After Tuklone Tauktae on May 16, the state witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall, right during the piracy season.
“Waterlogging fields have forced farmers in many places to pass the main mine land and directly enter Rotoweeders (implemented used to make loose land before transplantation),” said the source at the Ministry of Agriculture.
Former Chairperson of Zilla Panchayat Santan Rodrigues who have practiced organic rice cultivation in Curorim shows that rice seeds many farmers are swept only when they will be transplanted due to heavy rain which resulted in waterlogging.
“The accumulation of mud and narrowing of water drainage structures also causes water logging from the fields.
The Department of Water Resources must do timely dustilation from this drainage water channel to prevent losses for farmers,” Rodrigues said.
In addition, the second wave of covid pandemic is also largely added to the tribulation of farmers.
The source said that the tractor belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture is also a service provider, which is usually used to plow fields, deployed for Covid tasks.
They are used to transport medical oxygen cylinders when the country faces acute gas shortages.
They were free from Covid’s task only in the first week of June.
In addition, the non-availability of operators and trained engine technicians also adds problems.
The source explained that most operators and tractor engine technicians and harvesters praised from neighboring Maharashtra and Karnataka and brought to caves only during operating time.
“Covid situation and the prevailing trip restrictions prevent technicians from entering the country.
In addition, some tractors needed repairs cannot be used because spare parts cannot be purchased because the shops are closed,” a source familiar with agricultural practice in the country told TII , However, transplants have begun in various places in South Goa for the past week and apart from the initial hiccups, agricultural officials hope with abundant results this season.
