The rain sent Veggie’s price to surge in Hubballi

Hubballi: The price of some vegetables in Hubballi City has soared because of heavy rains that have damaged plants and influences their arrival to the market.
APMC has received a small number of vegetables and this has produced a sharp increase in vegetable prices.
Green Chilli prices increased to Rs 60 to 70 per kg and tomatoes at Rs 70-80 per kilo.
Peanuts, capsicum, fingers of women, bridal, cucumber and cabbage are valued between Rs 50-60 per kilo, when this Rs 20-40 per kg a few days ago.
Continuous rain for several days inhibits transportation.
Also, working in the fields is hampered and is one reason for price increases.
Mn Hebbali, wholesale vegetables in APMC, said green chili arrived at the market from the local area and neighboring districts.
But because of the decline in stock Green Chilli, the price has risen to RS 3,000-3,500 per sack, which is all time high.
Also tomatoes per box (25 kg) are Rs 1,000-1,200.
“Prices tend to increase for a few more days because the area receives heavy rain.
If the situation continues for days, prices will remain high,” Hebbali said.
Sudhakar, a hotel manager, said the price of vegetables has increased dramatically and it is difficult to maintain quality, “but at the same time we cannot raise the price now.
Chilli green, tomatoes, nuts for everyday.
– Update business, without Compromise with quality, “he added.
Maqsood Mulla, a citizen Koulpeth, said, “I have reduced the number of vegetables that I bought.
Previously, I used to buy vegetables for 15 days, but now I bought only for a week,” said Mulla.
