Nagpur: Hiring a school teacher in all districts has come to virtual standstills in Nagpur Regency, with management citing the prohibition of physical re-opening issues and cost collection as the main reason.
The teacher who has been dismissed, stopped because of the difference with management or looking for better opportunities may have to wait until the next academic session because the recruitment activity might not take in the near future.
Toi spoke with several school guardians who said that there was an unofficial recruitment freezing.
A Trustee said, “Collection of costs is very low and we struggle to fulfill most of our expenses.
In such situations, schools are forced to dismiss the teacher or reduce salary and hence, recruitment out of the question.” But then how they manage classes , Online or offline, with fewer staff.
The same trustee said, “Every school has a core teaching staff.
It can be between 20% to 40% of their total strengths.
These teachers basically help keep moving wheels while others are in the transition phase.
Some always look for new jobs , some want a peaceful job while others are training participants looking for experience.
“Teachers who work with established CBSE schools get a minimum of Rs 25,000 per month, while those who are experienced can sweep more than double that number.
However, it was only for several schools because the majority of schools pay their teachers between Rs 10,000 to RS 20,000 per month.
The CBSE School Trustee said, “Monthly salary can be very high if the candidate is true and we need subject experts.” In 2017, a city-based CBSE principal was very looking for math teachers for STD XI-XII and were willing to pay Rs 1.25 lakh per month if a suitable teacher could be found in a short time.
A senior school principal said, “Such a situation is rare.
It happens if your ACE teacher stops suddenly and it leaves school in trouble.
So to immediately fill the void, the school can spend a strong amount of money.
That’s why you always have Contractual teachers every year that can reserve your core staff.
“While management focuses on the ‘core’ team, others ignored even in terms of salary.
In Nagpur, only a few CBSE schools that pay their teachers (non-trainees) are almost equivalent to the seventh payment commission rate, while others only pay well ‘core’ members.
