Minna: Armed by releasing students who were kidnapped three months ago from an Islamic school in the northern state of Nigeria, two parents told Reuters on Thursday.
About 136 school children were taken from schools in the city of Tegina in May, but on Monday the school owner said that six had died of illness.
The release was confirmed by an official who asked not to be named because the government planned to issue a statement so they had children.
One parent, Mallam Glazed Tegina, said by telephone, the students had been released.
He did not confirm how many students were released.
Armed groups who kidnapped due to the ransom were blamed for a series of attacks in schools in northern Nigeria in recent months, kidnapping more than 1,000 students since December.
Abubakar Garba Alhasan, the seven children were held by the gang, said the students were on their way to the capital in Minna.
“They were released now,” he said.
