Gurgaon: Soil water thinning has been a concern in Gurgaon for years.
Now, many new infrastructure projects add to the city’s misery.
In fact, two main waterbodies (each of the two hectares) and their waterways used for the purpose of prevention of irrigation and floods by Kiranjan Village farmers and Hajipur also to refill ground water has been destroyed and their water catchment area is used for the construction of the DND road link -Delhi-vadodara April by the National Highway Authority (NHAI).
Toi visited the site on Thursday and found that the road link – part of NH 148NA – will appear in waterbodies.
The villagers claim that around 200 trees are also cut down but there is no obligatory afforestation carried out in the area by NHAI until now.
The villagers also showed that they were not consulted by the highway authority before the destruction of waterbodium was important.
“In addition, the entire road link, the interchange parts bypass-kmp dnd-faridabad-ballabgarh from NH 148NA, which is about 60 km long, does not have a single out point for the use of local people,” said Prem Mohan Gaur, a resident of Hajipur Village.
According to environmental lovers, it’s time for Nhai to wake up with a trouble with the thinning of Gurgaon ground water table.
“The authorities must avoid any development in any water and if it is truly unavoidable, the pillar must be used to keep the same unchanged.
The highway authority has a history of destroying waterbodi which blocks their infrastructure projects,” Vaishali Rana Chandra said , an environmental activist.
Many major waterbodies in Gurgaon have disappeared at all.
Every year, the district witnessed a situation like a flood during the rainy season because the channel flowed was hampered by arbitrary construction in the city.
According to the records submitted by the district administration to the National Green Tribunal (NGT), there are 826 water bodies in Gurgaon.
From them, as many as 20% are at risk for disbursed waste disposal, industrial waste or waste water.
When contacted, Dheeraj Kumar, the NHAI Project Officer, said, “We know the problem and take improvement steps.
We will restore water next to the upcoming link road.
Also, we have deposited money with the Ministry of Forestry for logging trees.
But we do not do it afforestation.
