Ghaziabad: The streets in the city are set for improvement because Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) has launched a Mega project that will see the Civic body expenditure almost Rs 25 Crore in the next three months.
Some Crore RS 242 is available for GMC under the 15th Finance Commission, where RS 25 Crore will be spent on the road, officials said.
In the first phase, the stretch that will be changed is Brij Vihar, Shahibabad, Shalimar Park, Vaishali and Vasundhara in the Trans-Hindon area.
In the CIS-Hindon area, GMC has chosen Kavinagar, Nahru Nagar, Patel Nagar and Vijaynagar.
“Prolonged rain for the past few days has damaged several city roads, which lead to puddles and traffic congestion in many places.
Given this, we have decided to start a project where 75 km of roads in the city area will be changed,” said Head of GMC Mahendra Singh Tanwar.
Road reshuffle will include road repairs, construction of the central threshold, tree planting and lighting.
“We plan to start working after the rain subsides and the work will be completed in three months before winter.
