Aizawl: Although Mizoram witnessed a decrease in the case of Covid-19 daily, the state has surpassed Manipur in the total number of infections to become number 2 among the 8 northeastern states, after Assam, the largest and most populous country in the region.
The total Mizoram infection rose to 1,24.026 on Friday due to Manipur 1,23,957 on the same day while Assam remained at the top of the northeast.
The country recorded 508 new Covid-19 infections during the last 24 hours and contributed 63.74% of a total of 797 fresh infections in 8 northeastern countries while the state contributed 54.59% of the total active cases throughout the country.
The state remains among the five highest Covid-19 daily infections during the last 24 hours in the country, and has the lowest recovery rate among the 8 northeastern states at 94.69%, followed by Nagaland at 97.23%.
While Mizoram took the lead in the case of a new covid-19 infection in the region for successive 69 days, it was no longer at the top for one day on November 1, but continued to be above again from the next day until Friday.
With four deaths related Covid-19 recorded for the past 24 hours, the total number of deaths from the pandemic rose to 444 (0.36% of the total infection).
