Thane: A security guard of a private company was beaten to death allegedly by a group of villagers during the trip against loss of electricity bills, while three policemen were injured in a mass attack in a separate incident in Maharashtra, police said on Sunday.
The incident took place for the past two days in the city of Bhiwandi PowerLoom.
On Saturday, several members of the electricity company with the security guard of the Pawar went to the Kanerai Village area in Bhiwandi to take action against those who had not paid their electricity bill, an official said from the Nizampura Police Station.
A group of 10-15 villagers allegedly beat strong support staff and prevented them from cutting their electricity supply, he said.
Pawar received a severe injury in the attack.
He rushed to the IgM hospital in Bhiwandi where the doctor said he was taken dead, the official said.

Police officials said they were waiting for a postmortem report to take further action into this case.
The son of the victim accused the deviation in the part of the electricity company, which led to his father’s death.
However, the Public Relations officer of the electric company Chetan Bijlani said it was the usual drive against absenteeism, then the police protection was not sought for it.
“In the case of a special drive, we seek police protection,” he said.

In another incident, three policemen were injured in an attack by a horde on Friday as they tried to catch criminals in Kasai Wada in Bhiwandi on Friday.
A joint team of Gujarat police and branch of Crime Bhiwandi, with ordinary clothing, has been looking for Jamil Qureshi (38), who oppose whom criminal violations are registered by neighboring police in neighboring countries.

Police Nizampura has identified the culprit and registered a case under the IPC section for riots, attacks, or criminalizers to prevent public servants from the release of their duties, wrong restraints, and other relevant provisions.
“This is a sensitive area, therefore the police will take appropriate action while ensuring the law and order is not disturbed.
The situation in the area is under control,” the official said.
