Chennai: banning four districts, seropositive levels in all Tamil Nadu districts are above 60%, in accordance with the results of the third edition of Sero Survey study by the Directorate of Public Health.
After rotating 24,586 people from all states, the Directorate found that almost 70% (17,090) had antibodies to viruses.
In Serosurvey in all the first states conducted in October-November 2020, before the second wave, the level of participation was around 32%.
It fell to 29% during the second sero survey in April 2021.
Some districts reported a decrease in the level of peposititivity when the case fell between September 2020 and March 2021.
But after the second wave which began in April, there had been a sharp increase in seropositivity levels.
Public health officials said the antibodies were obtained by a thorough infection or immunization, said Public Health Director Dr.
TS Selvavinayagam.
The highest antibody level was observed in Virudhunagar (84) and Tenkasi (83%).
While Chennai reported the 82% positioning level, Coimbatore recorded 71% and Madurai had 79%.
Karur has the lowest seropositivity level at 51%.
Screenship (58%), Ariyalur (56%) and nilgiris (55%) also have seropositivity levels below 60%.
The Minister of Health MA Subramanian, which released Sero’s results on Thursday, said the state would focus on vaccination 100% of the population in the district where seropocytivities were lower than 60%.
“We want all the elderly populations and vulnerable to taking two doses of vaccines.
This is the only way we can prevent hospitalization and death due to viruses,” he said.
