New Delhi: In the midst of criticism for the formation of foam in Yamuna – a sign of a dangerous water quality – The Delhi government on Tuesday deployed 15 ships to remove the foam with help.
Read Alsoruling AAP, BJP was involved in the game blamed at Yamunawhile the BJP leaders alleged that the AAP government did not allow the Chhath celebration in Yamuna banks to hide “sad” Gopal Rai and Raghav Chadha blame the government in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana for bubbling in the river.
The Delhi pollution control committee (DPCC) developed a plan and implemented it with the help of the Department of Flood Irrigation Control and the Department of Revenue, officials said.
Foaming dip: Photos “fifteen teams have been deployed to collect foam on the river.
This exercise will continue until the builtad episode is currently over,” said an official.
Officials said the idea requires the spread of the boat parallel to each other and then traced foam.
But an official is referred to as a “temporary” size.
“The problem will last until the waste treatment plant in Delhi is increased to meet new standards.
There is no direct solution for it.” Foam is just a manifestation of Yamuna’s water quality and it is a long-term problem, he said.
According to experts, the main reason behind the formation of foam in Yamuna is a high phosphate content in detergent used in the dyeing industry, Dhobi Ghats and households in Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
The poor quality of effluent is expelled from a general waste treatment plant (CETPS) and waste treatment plants (STP) are other reasons.
Waste water from colonies and official settlements containing high phosphate levels reach the river through waterways that have not been utilized.
When water falls from a height with a series, turbulence drown phosphorus compounds on the river that leads to the formation of foam.
Exercise in a stretch of certain rivers, such as near Ito and Okhla Barrage, has become an annual phenomenon now in winter when the temperature is low and flows on the river less.
On Monday, pictures and videos that show worshipers who offer prayers in Yamuna on the occasion of Chhath Puja with foam floating on the surface of the river has triggered the slugfest politics between the powerful AAP and BJP in Delhi.
While the BJP leaders alleged that the AAP government did not allow the Chhath celebration at the Yamuna Bank to hide the “sad” state of the river, Gopal Rai and Raghav Chadha blamed the government in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana for bubbling in the river.
The 22 kilometer stretch of Yamuna between Wazirabad and Okhla, which is less than 2 percent of 1,370 kilometers from Yamunotri to Allahabad, accounts for around 80 percent of the pollution load on the river.
The Delhi government in June prohibits sales, storage, transportation and marketing of soap and detergent not in accordance with the latest bus standards to curb pollution in the river.
On average, 24 of the 35 STPs in the national capital did not meet the standards specified for wastewater for the past year, according to government data.
Of the 13 Cetps in the industrial area throughout Delhi, only six who obey the standard DPCC for average wastewater.
Delhi produces around 720 million gallons of wastewater a day.
35 STP located in 20 locations in Delhi can take care of up to 597 MGD Sewage and have utilized around 90 percent of their capacity.
In January, the Delhi government had told the National Green Court to increase STPS in Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Delhi for “substantially” reducing foaming in Yamuna will take three to five years depending on the availability of land and funds.
In a report submitted to the Union Jal Shakti Minister in July, the Delhi government said that Yamuna could not be fit to take a shower in the absence of minimum environmental stream in the river.
